Ghana's monetary policy rate stands at 14.0 percent in September 2026

GHDatafie,

Ghana's monetary policy rate was 14.0 percent per year in September 2026, according to the Bank of Ghana. The figure is flagged as final and is 7.50 percentage points lower than in September 2025, a change GHDatafie calculated.

Ghana's monetary policy rate was 14.0 percent per year in September 2026, according to the Bank of Ghana (BoG). The figure was published on 24 September 2026 and is flagged as final.

How September compares

The previous figure shown for the series is for July 2026, when the rate was also 14.0 percent, according to the Bank of Ghana. The May 2026 figure was 14.0 percent and the March 2026 figure was 14.00 percent. All of these are flagged as final.

A year earlier, in September 2025, the rate was 21.50 percent. GHDatafie calculated that the September 2026 rate is 7.50 percentage points lower than in September 2025. A percentage point is the plain gap between two rates, so a move from 21.50 percent to 14.0 percent is 7.50 points.

The Bank of Ghana's figures do not say why the rate is at its current level, and GHDatafie does not draw conclusions about the reasons.

What the indicator measures

The monetary policy rate is the Bank of Ghana's benchmark interest rate, expressed in percent per year. GHDatafie takes it from Table 11 (Money Market Rates) of the BoG Monthly Statistical Bulletin.

In a month when the Monetary Policy Committee meets, GHDatafie first records the rate from the committee's press release on decision day, exactly as printed. That is why some recent months appear as 14.0 rather than 14.00. The bulletin's figure for that month follows later, and if it differs, the new figure is kept as a revision. Months without a meeting come from the bulletin only.

All figures here are as published by the Bank of Ghana and may be revised.
